Accessibility Statement
The Chair of Privacy and Security in Information Systems at the University of Bamberg is committed to making its website accessible. The legal basis is Art. 14 of the Bavarian Disability Equality Act (BayBGG) and §§ 9 to 11 of the Bavarian Digital Regulation (BayDiV), which implement Directive (EU) 2016/2102. Under § 9 (1) BayDiV, the requirements of § 3 of the German Barrier-Free Information Technology Ordinance (BITV 2.0) apply. They are specified by the European standard EN 301 549, which for websites refers to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at conformance level AA.
This statement applies to the website psi.uni-bamberg.de in German and English, that is, to all pages listed in its sitemap. For all other pages of the University of Bamberg, see the university’s general accessibility statement (in German).
This English version is provided for convenience. The German version is authoritative.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the requirements. The non-compliances are listed in the next section.
Non-accessible content
The following content is not accessible for the reasons given.
Non-compliance with the BayDiV
- Videos without audio description: The explainer videos on the psi-exam and exam booklets pages have captions but neither an audio description nor a complete text alternative (WCAG 1.2.3 and 1.2.5). Text that is only shown on screen and not spoken is therefore not accessible to blind users: in the booklet video the title, a graphic of the weekly schedule and a text panel about the project at the end; in the psi-exam video the screen contents of the exam software. The essential content of both videos is described in the text of the respective page. The captions were generated automatically and proofread. The psi-exam video also has burned-in English subtitles; if you switch on the player’s caption track, you will see the text twice.
- PDF documents: The PDF files linked from this website have not been fully checked for accessibility:
- Both instructions on the psi-exam page are tagged for screen readers. However, the German version is marked as an English document, so screen readers read it with English pronunciation (WCAG 3.1.1).
- The event flyer on the practice page is tagged but does not specify a document language (WCAG 3.1.1).
- As a rule, the slide decks linked on the talks page are not tagged for screen readers.
- Change of language: English titles and terms within German pages, such as the working principles on the German home page, and German terms within English pages are not consistently marked up with their language. Screen readers may therefore mispronounce them (WCAG 3.1.2).
Content outside the scope
- Third-party content: Linked external services, such as YouTube, GitHub or publisher websites, are neither operated nor controlled by us. They are not covered by this statement.
Preparation of this statement
This statement was prepared on 26 September 2026 and last reviewed on 26 September 2026, based on a self-assessment:
- automated testing of all pages with axe-core against the WCAG 2.1 criteria (levels A and AA), in the light and the dark colour scheme, in desktop and mobile view, and with controls such as the menu, search and expandable sections opened
- manual testing of keyboard operation, focus order and focus visibility, on desktop and in the mobile view
- testing that pages display at a width of 320 pixels (equivalent to 400 % zoom) without horizontal scrolling
- testing the colour contrast of text and controls
Issues found during testing were fixed before publication unless listed above. We review this statement at least once a year and update it as needed (§ 10 BayDiV).
